Where the dog toys live

My Mom and I (okay mostly Mom, but I have a good explanation for this) painted the dogs’ toy box a few months ago.
Yeah, I’m a little late on posting about it.
The paint job was made necessary by Cat number 3 (Harriet) after she peed in the dogs’ toys.
Yes, we were all very offended.
The Collies say it’s a good thing you’re cute, cat!
I would’ve painted it myself, but my Mom is addicted to painting and begged to paint the inside (this is my good explanation).
No seriously. She really did beg.
Out of the goodness of my heart I said yes.
Here’s the inside, painted a lovely mint color with the magnet latch spray painted pink.

Then it was my turn to paint. I didn’t really want to paint the entire outside of it because I actually really like the outside.
So I added a few stripes to the top of the lid, just for fun.

I thought about painting the word “Toys” on the lid too, but I like the simple look with just the stripes.
Their toy box is the same box seen in the background in this Wordless Wednesday post. It use to hold a few cooking dishes for camping, that was its original purpose. But the years go by and somehow it ends up as the dog toy box instead. 😉
Where do you keep your toys? A box/chest? A bag? A bucket? All over the floor?

Matching ears

Some of you may have noticed the teeny, tiny, speck of white on the tip of Petal’s left ear.
No? You haven’t?
Refer to the image below.

It’s pretty cute, isn’t it?
I love that little speck and I love that it’s only on that one ear.
But I guess Petal didn’t feel the same way.
I guess she felt mismatched. Ill-assorted. Ill-matched. Clashing. Contrasting.
So she painted her other ear to match.

Please note the white paint on her right ear (your left).

Now that she matches, she couldn’t be happier.

Those of you who follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter may know that this was not Petal’s only paint related mishap.
For those of you who don’t follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you should. 😉
Oh, and I’ll bring you up to speed.
My Mom is painting the family room and the dogs were doing a great job at avoiding the wet paint, up until I put my coat on to leave the house. Petal was hoping she would get to come along too, so she walked through my Mom’s pan of wet paint and left light blue paw prints across the tiled floor of our entry way. One of these days I’m going to wet myself while laughing at this dog.

Since then she has painted her ear, of course, and her mane.
The brilliant little Collie decided to paint her white mane white, so you can’t even tell it’s painted, until you pet her or see the odd texture to her hair.

Crazy pup.

A little heads up: I will be having surgery tomorrow, it’s nothing super serious and I will be home the same day, but I’m not sure when I’ll be back to posting. I’m sure I’ll be up for posting our Wordless Wednesday post, since I already have that ready to go (copy image link to blog post, check), and then hopefully I’ll be back to posting by the weekend.
Have a good week everyone!
And a happy Halloween!
For those of you in Sandy’s path, stay safe.

Petal Paints

Today I mixed together some flour, salt, water and food coloring and Petal learned to paint!
The recipe was a bit of a pain to make (for me, anyway, because I’m gifted). It’s very very simple, but loooots of arm-cramping stirring is involved and it doesn’t smell very pleasant if you burn it like I did. Oops.
Next time we’re going to use plain yogurt and food coloring instead. It’s even simpler and no stoves are needed. ;]
But all in all Petal and I had fun!

Maybe one day her artwork will be featured in museums and go for a couple thousand dollars just like Tillamook Cheddar
Or maybe I’ll just end up with lots of Petal’s paintings on my fridge.
