Two Collies And A Mutt

As you may have noticed, I’ve made some changes to Two Collies and a Mutt. The biggest being that we’ve changed our name and moved to my Dad’s domain (lifeseven) using WordPress.

Why so many changes? Why change the name?

I’ll explain why we moved to WordPress first, because it’s the easiest to explain. We made the move from Blogger to WordPress because after reading the many pros and cons of Blogger vs. WordPress or WordPress vs. Blogger, I decided WordPress would give me more of what I wanted. So here we are.

As for the change in name…

After losing Lassie I found my desire to blog and be a part of this awesome pet blogging community vanished. I didn’t want it anymore. I didn’t care. I was in too much pain to care about much of anything, except for Petal. Sweet Petal who, along with Lassie and Ella, inspired me to start a blog in the first place. But we were no longer Two Collies and a Mutt, we were one deeply depressed girl and one lonely Collie. Not a good title or theme for a blog.

One day I got the idea to start over with a new blog. I thought maybe it would be easier than trying to blog at Two Collies and a Mutt without one of my two Collies and my Mutt. I started brainstorming name ideas. I wanted a blog name that would pay tribute to Lassie and everything he taught me, but without actually using his name anywhere in the title because I imagine I would run into copyright issues with that. Eventually I came up with “Loved By A Collie” which is actually a shorter version of the first name I came up with, “Because I Was Loved By A Collie”

This was perfect because if I had not been Loved By A Collie, loved by my incredible Lassie, I would not be who I am today. I would not be where I am today. I wouldn’t have had Ella in my life and I wouldn’t have Petal today.

So this blog is for the dog who started it all. The dog who taught me some incredibly valuable life lessons. The dog who’s watching over me and this blog. My best friend. My heart dog. My Lassie.

  1. I just realized I remember you from your previous blog. I am so proud of you for moving on after such a loss, and proves that good things can come from bad. I don’t know what will happen if I were to lose Dolly but seeing what you have done gives me hope that there will be a life after her. Sandra
