Last night and this morning we finally got the snow Petal and I wanted. We woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland (pictured above is our early morning view of our front yard (up to the two trees, then it’s the road and then our neighbor’s yard starts at the fence)). Normally when we first wake up we get breakfast and then we wait a few hours before we do anything active, to avoid upset tummies or bloat. But this morning was different. This morning we were excited about the snow. Too excited for breakfast. So we bundled up and ran outside. The only logical thing to do.
See the flakes in front of Petal’s face? Yup, it was snowing pretty heavily when we ran out there at 7:30 this morning.
Snow on her nose, whiskers, face and body.
“And in my eyes too!”
“Seriously. IN my eye!”
We played out there, just the two of us, for a little while before we trekked back inside for breakfast.
A few hours later, around 11 AM, we went back outside with my sister’s dog Penny and the two of them let loose.
You see how Petal’s paw is raised and Penny appears to have no head?
Yeah, don’t mess with Petal, she’ll knock your head off. π
They played nonstop for 30+ minutes, racing around the yard, wrestling each other, sneaking up on each other, barking at the neighbors and just having a blast.
Which made for one very happy Petal dog!
Today we’re joining the FitDog Friday blog hop for the first time. Thanks to the hosts Slimdoggy, Peggy’s Pet PalaceΒ and To Dog With Love.
That last picture really says it all!
I wish you guys lived closer so we get invite Petal for a collie playdate!

“could” not get.

Me too! I wish that all the time. Petal needs some Collie friends! Penny is great, Petal loves her, but she just doesn’t understand the way of the Collie. π If we’re ever out your way we’ll have to meet up!
What a great way to have some fun and get a lot of great exercise. Those two dogs burned many calories during that 30 minutes. I bet that they each burned at least 100 (based on a 50 lb dog, 1/2 hour, high intensity exercise).
Great job and very cool post.

Awesome! I did not know they would burn that much. So cool. Thanks for sharing that!
She looks so happy in the last pic! I wish we had gotten snow instead of ice.

She was! She kept running up to me and the camera to wag her tail and poke my face (or the camera lens, butthead) with her nose, then she’d run off to play again.
I wish you had gotten snow too! Maybe you can convince your Mom to take you on a road trip to a snowy land. π I would seriously love to see what you would think of snow Nola!
Glad her snow dance finally worked! She looks like she’s having a blast.

Depends on the year. Sometimes we get lots and sometimes we don’t. We love the snow though. I’m not a fan of the area I live in, so when the snow comes and burrows it, it’s a really nice change, haha. Plus I just love watching Petal enjoy it so enthusiastically.
I love when pups get snow on their noses! My Barley girl always gets it licked off before I can get a good picture–these are precious! I’m glad someone’s still finding joy in winter–hopefully Barley and I can get that feeling back soon

I do too! It’s so cute. I have to be quick with the pictures though because Petal shakes it off, haha.
We’ve been pretty ripped off this winter. This is only our second snow fall that is actually sticking around for a few days. Our last one was in early December. We didn’t even have a white Christmas. It’s been a muddy winter and I can’t stand the mud. If it simply melted off of Petal’s body like snow does, then I might like the mud. π
My dogs (and myself) would also choose snow over breakfast. Lovely photos!

Hehe, glad we’re not the only ones! π
Thank you!
So happy you all got some new snow!! Go Petal and her snow dance!! I agree with All Things Collies … wish we all lived closer for a Collie Play Date. Petal is really proud of herself in the last picture … she knows she made it snow with her dance. Enjoy it!

We are too!
I wish we all lived closer as well. What a fun time that would be.
She is very proud of herself for sure!
Eating snow is kinda like having breakfast…right?
Perhaps I should try my luck with a snow dance so the melty-muddy mess outside can be covered again! Although, I do also like mud.
Enjoy your snow!

Totally! π
You should definitely try your paw at a snow dance. It just might work.
Petal doesn’t mind running around in the mud, but the bath that comes afterwards is not enjoyable for either of us. We’d rather have snow; the evidence just melts away, no bath needed! π
We will! Thanks for stopping by.
Looks like Petal and Penny definitely had a blast! Love the pics.

Looks like so much funβ¦ love the pics! Rocco got to play in his first snow in Atlanta this week! But we didn’t have nearly as much snow as you did!
