Two sparkly clean dogs.

Friday afternoon Smelly Ella got a bath and now she’s shiny clean and silky soft.
She saw the shampoo and conditioner and my other grooming supplies and knew just what I was up to.

“Oh no, that bath is for me, isn’t it?”

Photobucket
“Maybe if I sit and look really cute you’ll change your mind!”

Then Saturday afternoon Dirty Petal got a bath. Her coat is so fluffy, soft and vibrant now.

“Why am I in this tub? I thought you LIKED the smell of dirty dog!”

Photobucket
“Yeah, like getting me wet is going to help the smell.”

Ella is by far the easiest dog to bathe (though I’m sure you could’ve guessed that), so she usually gets her bath first. Then Petal’s bath is followed a day or two later and then Lassie’s bath takes place a few days after that. I like to save him for last, because he takes the longest (so so long, haha) and once I’m done with him, I’m done giving dog baths for a few months. So if the girls don’t get their baths first, they won’t get them for a long time.

As far as behavior goes, they’re all extremely easy to bathe.
Especially when I’m armed with treats. ;]
But even without treats they’re all really good and they stand nice and still. Though that fourth Kong did come in handy when it came time to blow dry Petal! My dogs love to play with the blow dryer— which is cute, but not helpful— and a Kong kept her busy and distracted.

And now I’ve got two silky soft and shiny dogs!

“I suppose that bath was worth it. Just look at me!”

Photobucket
“No, look at me! I’m prettier than a super model!”

I just love freshly bathed dogs.
Lassie’s next. ;]

Another Collie bathed.

Friday it was Petal’s turn to get a good scrub down. I used the same shampoo on her as I did on Lassie and my family’s reaction was “Wow! She’s so white!”
I used Cain & Able’s Peppermint conditioner and made her smell so yummy, like Christmas candy.
She’s also ridiculously soft and could put a Poodle to shame. ;]

My sweet and sassy little Red-Head.
And yes, Petal did follow in the foot steps of her big brother and stuck her head in the garbage the very next day. Thankfully she was caught before she could get dirty.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with these Collies.
;P

All groomed and handsome

Wednesday I spent hours and hours brushing, bathing, drying and then brushing again.
It took me allll day (thanks to the few occasional breaks), but it was worth it.
Because now I have a super soft and super handsome Collie.

He was really patient through some of it and reallyyy whiny at other times. Like I was killing him or something. But then when we were all done, he was so proud and pranced around the house showing off his lovely coat.
We used a large slicker brush, a pin brush, a undercoat rake, a scrub brush, two towels, a bathtub, a blow dryer, a grooming table (thank goodness for that back-saver) and shampoo and conditioner from Happytails.

And simply because I’m in love with their products, I’m going to ramble about them for a moment.

Here, have a picture, because pictures are great.

Sparkle and Shine shampoo (I always dilute it in water for Lassie) and their deep conditioning Fur Butter.
I love Fur Butter.
It smells so amazing that sometimes I open it up just to smell it.
It makes Lassie’s fur so soft and it helps a great deal with tangles.
And it smells amazing
And a little goes a very long way which is always nice, especially with a big and super furry dog like Lassie.
One of the best things I’ve ever bought for Lassie. I bought it months ago and still have more than half of the container left. I bought the shampoo at the same time and have about half of it left. They last much longer then they look like they would, gotta love that.
And it smells amazing.
Did I mention that?

P.S. The very next day, after I spent all those hours grooming him, Lassie stuck his head in the trash and came out with chili around his eyes. Lovely.
