Playing Tug

Ella and Petal absolutely love to play tug together.
They will tug on anything.
Seriously.
It doesn’t have to be a dog toy.
You name it, they’ll play tug with it.

Socks? Of course!

Any other article of clothing? Let’s do it!

Paper? Totally!

Teeny tiny pieces of cardboard? Why not!

Blankets? Oh yeah!

Sticks?

Who wouldn’t?!

Ella’s Puppy

Thursday, while running errands with my Mom and little sister, we ended up at a thrift store, looking through toys. I found two really cute stuffed animals, a dog and a piggy, one for a dollar and the other one for fifty cents. Now when I found the cute, burgundy dog, I immediately thought of Ella because we use to have this sweet little blue dog stuffy and Ella carried it everywhere with her when she was a puppy.
So of course I had to buy the cute little thing.
And what was the first thing Ella did when I walked in the door?
She stuck her head in the bags (too see what I got, as always) and pulled out the burgundy dog.
And she’s been clinging to him ever since.

See that blur of her tail? Wagging a mile a minute.

I knew it would be a big hit, I just didn’t realize HOW big of a hit he would be.

“C’mon, Ella! Give me a turn!”
“No! He’s mine!”

Nap time.

If only they had two!

Happy New Year, everyone!

7 Years

Yesterday, December 8th 2011, marked seven years with my Lassie.

Seven years with this boy!
It’s been amazing and sometimes difficult.
But mostly amazing. He’s the best dog.
This dog makes me smile and laugh.
He makes me feel loved and wanted and needed.
Though I need him a lot more than he needs me.
He’s my best friend.

Snugglefest

One of Petal’s very best friends is my sister’s cat, Harriet. They play together, wrestle together, lay together and snuggle together. Harriet cleans Petal’s face and chomps on her legs and Petal likes to stick Harriet’s head in her mouth. They have the best dog-cat relationship I’ve ever seen. They’re adorable together.

Some thoughtless person dumped a pregnant cat on our property (or nearby, at least, if not directly on it) and my family took to feeding her and her kittens. Harriet was one of those kittens and we very quickly grew attached to her, so we kept her.
She warmed up to the dogs very quickly and we tease her about being part dog. ;]
She’s a great little kitty. We just love her.
