Pillow Mountain and Dryer Lint

Petal has always loved to lay on top of things.
Things like laundry baskets filled with laundry (preferably clean laundry).

Or even a coffee table would do!

But with her coffee table gone and the laundry basket is rarely left out anymore, she sticks to laying on top of the couch pillows. Which have always been her favorite (with the coffee table in a very close second) anyway.

Just yesterday afternoon, after running many many laps out in the yard, she settled down for a nap in her most impressive place yet.

The pillow mountain.
The pillows had been fluffed and freshened up in the dryer with a fabric softener. This is why they were stacked up on the couch, they were waiting to be arranged nicely again.

But I guess Petal thought they were stacked like this to make a really super awesome bed just for her super awesomeness!

  Photobucket

This stack of pillows was piled higher than the couch and Petal very nearly fell over the back of it several times. I kept reaching out to grab her, but she always steadied herself just in the nick of time. One of the pillows did fall off the stack, over the back of the couch and on to the floor, though. Whoops.

And speaking of fluffing pillows in dryers…
Check out what we found in the dryer today!

Photobucket
My oh my! That’s the largest bit of dryer lint I ever saw!

Note: We did not put the cat in the dryer. She put herself there. Seriously.

My Dog does Laundry

You probably thought Petal’s chores ended at yard work and washing dishes.
But a girl’s work is never done.
Especially not when there is laundry that needs tending to.

Petal is going to show you dogs at home how to do laundry, step by step!

Photobucket
“You ready to do some laundry, Petal?”

Photobucket
“Let’s do this thing!”

Photobucket
“First you have to put clothes in.”

Photobucket
“I’m washing socks!”

Photobucket
“Then you have to close the door and push some buttons. Make sure you focus on your person’s hand, so they don’t forget to give you a treat after each step!”

Photobucket
“See this? This is where the soap goes. You’ll have to get your human to put the soap in, since it’s heavy and we haven’t got opposable thumbs.”

Photobucket
“Then you gotta close the soap compartment. My favorite part!”

“Here’s a video so you can see me in action!”

“Then you remind your human to give you some extra treats and you’re done!”

Happy Saturday!
Have a lovely weekend!

Yogurt Nose

Yogurt.
Personally, I think it’s gross. Unless it’s frozen yogurt. Frozen yogurt is a whole ‘nother story.
The dogs, however, love yogurt.
I like to give it to them as a tasty, special treat either on top of their food or in a Kong.
They also love to lick the container clean once it’s empty.
Petal had the honor of licking the yogurt container clean just the other day and then spent the rest of the day with a yogurt covered nose.

“Mmm! Yummy, yummy yogurt!”

What special treats do your dogs enjoy?
My dogs sometimes get cottage cheese or peanut butter and they get a raw egg once a week.

Petal hits the town!

Tuesday Petal, me and my younger sister, Melanie, went into town and walked around main street.
It was crazy windy and we were crazy to be out there, but it was fun and worth our temporary moment of insanity. ;]
I only took Petal so we could work on some training and she did very well!
Our little walk consisted of…
Photobucket
Lots of chit chatting with Petal.

Photobucket
“Hey Mom, let’s rent a tuxedo and stick it on Lassie! BOL!”

Photobucket
Window shopping.

  Photobucket
Posing beside a fire hydrant.

Photobucket
Greeting and sniffing the creepy fake man.
This statue guy use to freak Petal out every time. Now she doesn’t bat an eye at him.

Anyway, our walk also had a little of

Photobucket
Petal walking herself.

Photobucket
Petal walking me.

  Photobucket
And Petal playing chicken.
One street that we walked down had a small amount of sidewalk and Petal just veered right off of it and into the street, but before I could correct her, she came back up onto the sidewalk.
Goof.
Don’t worry, though, her leash isn’t long enough for her to get out into the middle of the road. She really only made it to the gutter of the street and she didn’t do it again after I discouraged it.
No dogs were harmed during this walk. ;]

Photobucket
Did I mention how windy it was?
Yeah. There were a few times that I was sure the wind would just carry us away. I came home wiping dirt off my face and out of my ears and my eyes burned for a little while after.
It was crazy. It was fun. It blew in the snow storm we got Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

But it was lovely and we sat outside a coffee shop and watched cars drive by and some people as they worked on remodeling a movie theater that’s been for sale for years now.
I’m excited to see what they do with it. I hope they keep it a movie theater and don’t turn it into something else.

I love feeling the wind through my hair!

What’s better than a wind blown Collie?
If you immediately thought “Cake!” you were wrong.
If you thought “Kitties! Where are the kitties?!” you’re not only wrong, but you’re in the place!
Photobucket
The correct answer is…

Photobucket
Not much.

Just look at that! I wanna run my fingers through it and do ridiculous things like braid it or put ponytails or hair clips in it!*

* All of these things have been done to him before (hey, he was raised by a thirteen year old girl with three younger sisters, this stuff was bound to happen to him! It’s alright though, it made him the very patient boy he is today). Needless to say, the day Petal’s hair was long enough to put girly hair clips and bows in was a very happy day for this boy, indeed. ;]

P.S. Head on over to our Facebook page (click on the little Facebook stamp at the top of the left sidebar) and post a picture of your dog(s) so Lassie, Ella and Petal can see their followers! If you would like to, you may leave their Facebook and/or blog urls, too, then we can like and follow them back!
Thanks!

Petal’s Tongue

Whenever she has her tongue hanging out (which happens often when she’s been playing/is playing out in the yard), she looks so…

Photobucket
“I is… “

Photobucket
“A dork!”

Yes, dorky.
She looks so adorably dorky and silly to me.

Yes, her tongue is curled in that first picture, crazy girl.
Yes, that is a blade of grass/something on her tongue in the second picture.

P.S. A few of you have posted pictures of your sweet dogs on our Facebook page, thank you so much! If you haven’t posted a picture of your dog(s) on our Facebook wall yet, please do! We would love it. You can get to our Facebook page by clicking on the little Facebook stamp at the top of the sidebar to the left.
Thank you!

Ella loves dirt and Petal hates not being the center of attention

What were the dogs up to this morning?
They were working hard in the yard!
Well, Ella was at least.
Lassie laid around, working on his tan, and Petal was being more bossy than helpful.
Photobucket
“There is something down there and I WILL get it! I will not stand for vermin in my yard!”

Photobucket
Dig, dig, dig, dig!
“Petal, do you think you could come over here and lend me a paw?”

Photobucket
“Sure! Here you go!”
“…. Very funny.”

Petal may be excellent at raking and washing dishes, but she’s no help at all when it comes to digging.
This is her idea of digging:
Photobucket
She paws very lightly at the dirt.
Can’t risk getting dirt in her nails!

She should be more worried about her head when standing behind Ella while she digs. Photobucket
“Whoa! Ella! Watch the coat!”

The only reason she even tried to help was to get in the camera lens.

Photobucket
What’s that big blur, you ask?
Why that’s Petal’s mouth and nose!
What is she doing?!
Oh, you know, just biting the camera. That’ll show me to take more pictures of Ella than I did her!

Don’t you worry, Petal, I took pictures of you, too! How could I deny you after you tried to eat my camera? You were being so helpful— of course I took pictures!

Photobucket
I mean look at this! Here you are, working tirelessly, to pull that little tiny bit of grass out of the ground!
Oh… You were just hungry?
Well, okay. But let’s not forget that time you so helpfully pointed out the obvious!

Photobucket
“Ella, you have dirt on your head. And face.”
“Gee, Petal, I wonder how that happened!”
“Are you being sarcastic?! I’m telling!”

That was helpful!
What’s that?
You were more helpful than that?
Oh! That’s right! You did finally get the hang of the whole digging thing, eventually.

Photobucket
Yes, you are doing quite well here.
Though your digging is quite… well… spazzy.
But help is help!
Though I do have to wonder where all that dirt you’re kicking up went…

Photobucket
Ah, yes. Just as I thought. It went all over Lassie.
Needless to say, the poor boy had to relocate.
Maybe it would be best to leave the digging to Ella.

Photobucket
… Even if she does find herself in odd predicaments with that bandana.

Digging is just more Ella’s thing.

Photobucket
Dirty, dirty dog.
