I’m gonna get you!

Here I come, Lassie!
Petal loves running at Lassie from great distances.
And body-slamming him.
And chewing on his mane.
And taking toys from him.
And just generally picking on him.
And Lassie is ridiculously patient with her.
Probably because Petal is basically the dog version of me.
Yeah, I pick on him, too.
He’s just so darn lovable and pickable and squishable!

Snugglefest

One of Petal’s very best friends is my sister’s cat, Harriet. They play together, wrestle together, lay together and snuggle together. Harriet cleans Petal’s face and chomps on her legs and Petal likes to stick Harriet’s head in her mouth. They have the best dog-cat relationship I’ve ever seen. They’re adorable together.

Some thoughtless person dumped a pregnant cat on our property (or nearby, at least, if not directly on it) and my family took to feeding her and her kittens. Harriet was one of those kittens and we very quickly grew attached to her, so we kept her.
She warmed up to the dogs very quickly and we tease her about being part dog. ;]
She’s a great little kitty. We just love her.

Another Collie bathed.

Friday it was Petal’s turn to get a good scrub down. I used the same shampoo on her as I did on Lassie and my family’s reaction was “Wow! She’s so white!”
I used Cain & Able’s Peppermint conditioner and made her smell so yummy, like Christmas candy.
She’s also ridiculously soft and could put a Poodle to shame. ;]

My sweet and sassy little Red-Head.
And yes, Petal did follow in the foot steps of her big brother and stuck her head in the garbage the very next day. Thankfully she was caught before she could get dirty.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with these Collies.
;P

All groomed and handsome

Wednesday I spent hours and hours brushing, bathing, drying and then brushing again.
It took me allll day (thanks to the few occasional breaks), but it was worth it.
Because now I have a super soft and super handsome Collie.

He was really patient through some of it and reallyyy whiny at other times. Like I was killing him or something. But then when we were all done, he was so proud and pranced around the house showing off his lovely coat.
We used a large slicker brush, a pin brush, a undercoat rake, a scrub brush, two towels, a bathtub, a blow dryer, a grooming table (thank goodness for that back-saver) and shampoo and conditioner from Happytails.

And simply because I’m in love with their products, I’m going to ramble about them for a moment.

Here, have a picture, because pictures are great.

Sparkle and Shine shampoo (I always dilute it in water for Lassie) and their deep conditioning Fur Butter.
I love Fur Butter.
It smells so amazing that sometimes I open it up just to smell it.
It makes Lassie’s fur so soft and it helps a great deal with tangles.
And it smells amazing
And a little goes a very long way which is always nice, especially with a big and super furry dog like Lassie.
One of the best things I’ve ever bought for Lassie. I bought it months ago and still have more than half of the container left. I bought the shampoo at the same time and have about half of it left. They last much longer then they look like they would, gotta love that.
And it smells amazing.
Did I mention that?

P.S. The very next day, after I spent all those hours grooming him, Lassie stuck his head in the trash and came out with chili around his eyes. Lovely.

Yoga?

The girls are curious to know if these napping positions could also double as yoga poses?

Lassie thinks they’re crazy. Don’t they know that this is the only way to sleep? With a balled up blanket serving as your pillow?

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!
